The International Society of Cryosurgery (ISC) has successfully held its 21st World Congress on November 27-28, 2021. The World Congress of the International Society of Cryosurgery has been held every two years since the founding of ISC in Vienna in 1972, and all 20 congresses around the world have successfully held so far. Due to the pandemic, the 21st World Congress of the International Society of Cryosurgery could not be held on-site as scheduled, and the ISC Committee held several consultations and decided to hold the Congress in a combination of online and on-site mode, the main venue sat at the Southwest Huayi Hotel in Beijing, China.

After the first round of the conference organization and call for papers issued by the conference organizing committee on October 6, 2021, more than 100 academic papers were received until November 25. After screening and recommendation, 36 renowned experts and young scholars from various countries were finally identified for online conference presentations according to the conference agenda.
Due to the pandemic, experts from all over the world could not gather in the same location. The international version of Zoom software was chosen as the main tool for online communication among the participating experts. The conference was simulcast live online to colleagues in the field of cryotherapy worldwide. The video of the entire meeting is permanently saved on the website for viewing at any time. On the night before the opening ceremony, to ensure that the participants could go online smoothly as scheduled, Prof. Chengli Li and Prof. Isreal Barken led the secretary team to confirm all the participants around the world one by one, making phone calls or sending emails with countdown reminders to go online. Everyone worked until after 2:00 am the following day.
At 6:00 am Beijing time on November 27, experts from all over the world came online in the Zoom conference room to exchange greetings and brief exchanges, and at 7:55 am, the opening ceremony was held simultaneously online and on-site as scheduled.
The Congress's Opening Ceremony was presided over by Ms. Esther Law Lee Poh from Malaysia. A retrospective video of previous ISC World Congresses was shown under the joint guidance of Prof. Xiao Yueyong and Prof. Nikolai N. Korpan.
Afterward, Prof. Xiao Yueyong, the President of the Congress and the 21st President of the ISC from Beijing, China, delivered an Opening Address and announced the opening of the Congress, while Prof. Nikolai N. Korpan, Prof. Kecheng Xu, Honorary President of the ISC Society, and Prof. Masashi Watanabe, Past President of the ISC, delivered their Welcome Addresses.

The Congress invited many renowned experts and scholars in cryotherapy from all over the world to perform a significant number of high-level presentations and academic discussions on cryoablation and cryomedicine. The number of online participants reached more than 2700. The conference was held on schedule and smoothly and achieved a complete success, reaching the expected goal of exchanging experiences, sharing results, and promoting the development of the ISC career.

Prof. Alexey V. Chzhao from Moscow, Russia, presented "Cryoablation in locally advanced pancreatic cancer."
Prof. Wang Hongwu, Secretary-General of the ISC, gave a presentation entitled " Integration of photodynamic therapy and percutaneous lung cryoablation for the treatment of central lung carcinoma."
Prof. Yaron Har-Shai from Israel gave a Congress lecture on "Different Types of Auricular Keloids and Treatment by Intralesional Cryosurgery: Best Practice for Obtaining Long-Lasting Clinical Results."
Prof. Isreal Barken from the United States gave a presentation entitled "Using enhanced Abscopal effect to control systemic metastatic disease at the time of local tumor ablation."
Prof. Guo Wei from Shanghai presented "The Chinese Strategy of Cryosurgery for Advanced Oral and Maxillofacial Malignancy."
Prof. Navid Eghdalieh from California, USA, gave a lecture entitled "Cryoablation of Osseous Metastases."
Prof. Weijun Fan from the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong, China, gave a lecture entitled " Exploration on cryoablation combined with transarterial infusion of PD-1 inhibitor for liver metastases of melanoma"

Prof. Yingtian Wei from the First Medical Center of PLA General Hospital presented " Combination of artificial pneumoperitoneum and percutaneous cryoablation for a 10-year myofibroblastoma."
Prof. Elizabeth Kozachuk & Prof. Oleksiy I. Dronov from Ukraine gave a presentation entitled " Cryogenic technologies application in complex treatment of pancreatic cancer in Ukraine."
Prof. Xiaobo Zhang presented on "MRI-Guided Cryoablation in Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors."
Dr. Xiaofeng He, Secretary of ISC, gave a presentation entitled " Percutaneous Tumor Ablation: Cryoablation Facilitates Targeting of Free Epirubicin-Ethanol-loversol Solution interstitially Coinjected in a Rabbit VX-2 Tumor Model."
Professor Lyubov Palchikova, a rehabilitation physiotherapist from Tauriyatti, Russia, gave a lecture titled " Pathogenetic justification of cryotherapy in the comprehensive treatment of post-COVID-19 syndrome". Her institution has treated more than 300 patients with post-COVID syndrome using cryotherapy, with excellent results. This presentation is of special interest at this particular time. She also hired an interpreter for her presentation and discussion at the conference.

The last speaker of the Congress was Prof. Christos C. Zouboulis from Germany, who gave a lecture on "Cryosurgery of keloids." Due to the conflicting schedule, he recorded his speech in advance.

The two-day conference was brief but informative and diverse, covering basically all aspects of cryonics in medical applications. The back-end statistics of the live webpage showed that more than 2,700 colleagues from cryotherapy professionals worldwide watched the conference.

With the conclusion of Prof. Christos C. Zouboulis's excellent presentation, Congress entered the Closing Ceremony on November 28, 2021. Ms. Esther Law Lee Poh also moderated the Closing Ceremony.
Firstly, the ISC members met online to discuss and elect the new ISC President, Vice-President, and Board Members. Professor Yaron Har-Shai from Haifa, Israel, was elected as the new 22nd President of the International Society for Cryosurgery. The members all expressed their heartfelt congratulations online. In addition, Prof. Dr. Oleksiy I. DRONOV from Kyiv, Ukraine, and Prof. Lizhi NIU from Guangzhou, China, were elected as Vice Presidents of the new Board of Governors. There are also three renowned experts from China on the Board of Governors, Prof. Chengli LI, Prof. Renjie YANG, and Prof. Hongwu WANG. The Congress also nominated Kyiv, Ukraine, as the offline venue for the 22nd World Congress on Cryotherapy, which is expected to be held in 2023.

Finally, Prof. Korpan, Senior Honorary President of ISC, made a short remark on the conference, highly praised the conference, and expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee. Prof. Xiao Yueyong expressed his congratulations to the newly elected new ISC President and Board of Governors and gave an enthusiastic Closing Address to Congress.
